Join us for the next installment of the continuing art series Sting! with an exhibition entitled “Peace, Love and Understanding” curated by Beth Kantrowitz and bk projects, alongside resident curator Jennifer Epstein. The Beehive will commemorate “Peace, Love and Understanding” with an artist reception on Tuesday, February 11th, 2020 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM.
Inspired by the similarly titled song from Nick Lowe and the Los Straitjackets, curator Beth Kantrowitz explained, “these lyrics and the sentiment are timeless. Despite what’s happening in our world today, many of us strive to believe in peace, love and understanding and to live in sweet harmony.” The artists in this exhibition address the need for greater civility as our society is split between dueling visions of what our national and global culture should look like. The exhibit features the work of artists: Alexi Cofield, Jon Cowan, Lynne Harlow, Cody Justus, Kathleen O’Hara, Roberta Paul, Caleb Neelon, Sneha Shrestha and Helena Wurzel. The imagery, color, and themes explored in the show’s pieces evoke feelings of warmth, generosity, compassion, strength and contemplation.
